Having interacted with a wide range of personality types in my nearly 47 years on Planet Earth, I have personal experience that proves “Human beings will do and think rightly according to an internalized standard of right & wrong” nearly 100 % of the time! ————————————————————————————————
Judges 21:24-25, KJV24And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.25In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. —————————————————————————————–
Okay, Big Whup! We are all sinners, self-centered, selfish, Right? Right! At least it seems pretty standard stuff to me. I have grown up in church. I have been taught all of this since I was a toddler.
“Soooooo! What’s the problem?” you may ask.
Sadly, within the past two years I confided in a pastor that I was starting to believe I might be an individual with the characteristics of Asperger’s Syndrome and/or High-Functioning Autism.
(If so, I told him told that it might explain why he had had difficulty communicating with me and had misunderstood some of my mannerisms and word choices as being disrespectful. From my heart I can honestly say that disrespect is never a possibility for me when interacting with God’s man because I place an intensely high value on the callings and giftings of the LORD!)
At that point I was “floored” by his incredible response, he implied that Autism didn’t really exist because he read somewhere that “Everybody has a little touch of autism.”
Well, Glory Be, Preacher! You have just cited another example that proves Genesis 1:26-27,
“26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
Just “connect the dots” between Genesis 1:26-27 and Judges 21:24-25. Result? The One-and-Only God Who is convinced (and rightly so) that His standards are right & good & Holy has created human beings who naturally believe that his or her ways and standards are right & good & holy.
However, humans can no longer make this claim rationally…due to sin. However, since our “brain-wiring” (ways of thinking) was created by God in His likeness, we live with “dissonance’ and “soft focus”…
(I Corinthians 13:9-13, “For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”)
Bottom Line: In our own eyes, we would never do anything we thought to be wrong…unless we thought the result would be beneficial to ourselves or those whom we personally love.O, by the way, Preacher, if we are going to be consistent with our logic, then since the universal presence of a condition negates the harmful consequences of that same condition, then you, my Friend, are out of a job!
WHY PREACH AGAINST SIN, IF WE ALL ARE SINNERS? Romans 3:10, 23 and Romans 6:23…Anybody ready to help me tell God…He is WRONG!?!Hmmmm…I thought not.
