What Is The Color of LOVE?

This is a poem that I wrote on February 14, 1989 while I was still a sixth grade teacher at North Florida Christian School in Tallahassee, Florida.

It was created in a relatively short time that afternoon because one of the bus drivers for the school was also the pastor of a predominantly African-American church and had invited me that afternoon to participate in their Valentine Service that evening.

As I recall, I wrote it before I left the school for the day.

It is my Prayer that it underscores an immovable standard in my heart since the day that I was saved as a six-year-old boy in the late Spring of 1967! That standard is that God creates all humans equal in value, in honor, in respect, in purpose to give all Glory to God!

If this somehow makes it to the White House, then I would like for President Obama, the First Lady, and the first daughters to know that any time I may oppose policies of this administration that opposition will be no greater than for any other President and based solely upon ideas and world-view, not on inherent & created value before God. (This is a very fine-looking family, and think of the added perk that came to them naturally. They didn’t have to invest time and money to get that nice tan.) 🙂

Therefore, President Obama & Family! Happy Saint Valentine’s Day! May the Greatest of Eternity’s LOVE be given Its fullest expression in your hearts without reservation this day that you may be truly and unequivocally Blessed! 🙂

What is the color of Love?
Is it white as purest snow,
without spot or stain to know,
with room to ever grow?
What is the color of love?

What is the color of love?
Is it black as friends I see,
Who mean more than life to me,
Who will live eternally?
What is the color of love?

What is the color of love?
Is it green as grassy plain,
made lush by new fallen rain,
a symbol of eternal gain?
What is the color of love?

What is the color of Love?
Is it blue like bluest sky,
or courage to reply,
that God made you and I?
What is the color of love?

What is the color of love?
Is it orange like the healthy way,
that I can keep a cold away,
or sunshine that I see today?
What is the color of love?

What is the color of love?
Is it yellow, like the Streets of Gold,
that one day we may each behold,
quite free from this Earthly mold?
What is the color of love?

What is the color of love?
Is it purple as of royalty,
Who was born and died for you and me,
and lives in peace eternally?
What is the color of love?

What is the color of Love?
Is it red as purest crimson flow,
that washes me clean and white as snow,
and makes me know on High I’ll go?
What is the color of love?

The color of love is rainbow bright,
That casts away the darkest night,
And gives all Christians brand-new sight.
THAT is the Color of LOVE!

The color of love as fuller’s soap,
Can fill our lives with deepest Hope,
And bind our hearts with love’s strong rope.
THAT is the Color of LOVE!

The color of love as black receives,
And never more The Spirit grieves,
Or will his fellow man deceive.
THAT is the Color of LOVE!

The color of love is green and blue.
It makes me know the worth of you,
Through God’s Great Eyes Who can make you new.
THAT is the Color of LOVE!

The colors of love from the palette Divine,
Brighten our lives with such artistry fine,
For the Painter know what’s in your heart and mine.
He puts red where we need,
and some green and some blue,
Our lives will succeed,
When His canvas is me,
and His canvas is you.
